Today is a cold, wet, and stormy day. The NOAA radio blared its warning to us early this morning at around 4:40 a.m. I had barely enough time to get my outside LDG farm dogs to shelter on our screened-in patio. This is something they appreciate, even though they prefer to stay outside most of the time. The patio is “outside” enough for them not to feel suffocated by the house's four walls—except in the summer when they brave the claustrophobia to stay cool.
On the other hand, my cats are lucky to be indoor animals and don’t realize how good they have it. They live a life of privilege that my other animals envy. Well, except for the chickens, who seem indifferent to the weather as long as they have food, water, and a place to run under during a downpour. My goats, however, hate being wet and make good use of their shed. It’s a warm, dry place with fresh straw, feed, and water.
