Header: “Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you.”
(Proverbs 4:25, NLT)
Dear Readers,
I was on TikTok last night when the lights went out. I had completed my last second only live. And I was chatting in a different content creator’s live, when it went dark. We all expected it. We were all saying our goodbyes. Making arrangements to reconnect on different platforms. The sadness was palpable. And then suddenly it was silent and only the cold winter wind blasting against my window could be head. The voices of so many people; so many minds gone! Silenced by rhetoric and lies. Silenced by corporate greed and government corruption. I sat in that silence and thought about many things. One thought managed to make it to the tips of my fingers. My thoughts are below.
As the world buzzes with debates—TikTok vs. Red Book, tech bans, and global political drama—it’s easy to feel swept up in the noise. It’s everywhere: headlines, conversations, social feeds. But have you paused to wonder if these distractions are keeping us from seeing what truly matters?
With the inauguration on Monday, I’ve noticed how easily we, as a nation—and even globally—can lose focus. There’s so much attention on side stories, yet we might be missing the real news that will shape our future.
This isn’t just about politics or tech platforms. It’s about being vigilant with what we give our attention to, both personally and collectively. Proverbs 4:25-26 offers timeless wisdom:
• “Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you.”
• “Mark out a straight path for your feet; stay on the safe path.”
In a world full of distractions, staying on the “safe path” means tuning into truth, seeking clarity, and not allowing ourselves to be pulled away from what God has placed in front of us. It’s about intentionally directing our focus toward what brings peace, purpose, and growth.
What’s Really Going On?
Here are a few tips to help us all refocus and discern what matters amidst the noise:
1. Filter the News – Not everything is urgent. Look for trusted sources that cover important updates without the sensationalism.
2. Ask, “Who Benefits?” – When a story seems overblown, consider whether it’s a distraction from something bigger happening behind the scenes.
3. Stay Grounded – Spend quiet moments in reflection or prayer to refocus on what truly matters to you and your family.
A Call to Action
As Monday approaches, I encourage us all to:
• Be mindful of what we consume.
• Stay curious about the news we’re not seeing.
• Share conversations about meaningful topics, not just the distractions.
What do you think we might be missing right now? What’s one way you plan to stay focused on what truly matters? Let me know in the comments or reply to this newsletter—I’d love to hear your perspective.
Together, we can rise above the noise and focus on the truth that matters most.
Closing Thought:
“The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day.” (Proverbs 4:18)
Let’s walk in that light, with clear eyes and steady hearts.
