A Lifeline
Mike was sitting in his squad car watching traffic when he got a text message from Leah. His heart was racing faster than the vehicles he was supposed to be watching. As he read each line repeatedly, his mind also began to run. He had been waiting for this moment, and he thought he would have to wait a long time. Just as he was about to reply, a Red pickup truck sped by him, clocking at 95 miles per hour. Mike immediately called it in as he began his pursuit. The occupant didn’t seem to want to comply and speed up. Mike made another call to dispatch. “He’s running! I need backup!”
As Mike began the chase, his Adrenaline kicked in. He knew this was dangerous, but the occupant slowed and pulled to the right.
